Day 166: Gypsy Gem

Fine embroidery is always too hard to pass up. My summer gypsy was hard to pin down for a photo as she wanted to move every which way and pick everything up within a five-foot radius. Uniqueness should be something to strive for and finding unusual clothes to dress her in makes that much easier. The shoes are out of the norm in that most stores wouldn't sell them. They look like something one would find by searching in the places others are not willing to go to, whether that be a thrift store, or yard sale, or a vendor on the street. The dress is from a yard sale and the shoes have been discussed before in 108: Sunset Safari.

Day 165: Firey Flamenco

I swear this child will become a dancer when she gets older. For every song, genre, and beat, she has a unique style to match. What could be more fitting than flamenca shoes for the little dancer. They were such a lucky find at Goodwill, especially since they were just her size (in children's European sizing to boot). They are actually from Spain, so it's fun to imagine how they came to be in my local Goodwill. Other than an authentic flamenca costume, I can't imagine a better shirt for these heels. The ruffles, the polka dots, and the red roses have the kind of flare these shoes were made to be paired with. To tie it all up, she is wearing her hair in a high ponytail. The shirt and leggings ate both from yard sales.

Day 164: Snow White's Successor

I've had this outfit planned for about 5 months, but never got around to actually executing it. Each aspect was carefully chosen based on details from the story of Snow White. The poison apple is fairly obvious, as well as the color scheme of red, blue, and yellow, and the red bow in the hair. However, the earrings were more subtle in that they portray the hours of the day in which people sleep, and considering the apple caused the princess to fall into a sleep-like state, it seemed fitting. I even have red lipstick on to match her description of lips as red as a rose. This entire outfit was inspired by the movie and is a modern take on the Disney princess. My shirt and shoes and earrings are from yard sales, the jacket and capris from Ross and the necklace and ribbon were gifts.

Day 163: Biking in Beauty

The bike planter was a gorgeous Ross find. The spot wear the pot goes has a bunch of colorful, realistic birds sitting in foliage. I tried to tell her not to sit on the seat, because I didn't want her bending it, but she sat down anyway and slid back. She wound up sitting in the flower pot, though luckily only one flower didn't make it. This girl is all set for spring as this entire scene screams so evidently.  Every time I see these socks, I'm immediately reminded of Tinker Bell. She sure has the mischievous tendencies to go along with such a character. However, to those she cares for, she is forever loyal and loving and sweet, if not a bit of a troublemaker. The whole outfit is from various garage sales.

Day 162: Fruity Freedom

A lovely little girl deserves to wear fruit in all its sweet glory. It is delicious and healthy and so colorful. If fruit is sensationalized rather than junk food, then children will be more likely to make healthy decisions. Of course, such an awesome skirt was made by gymboree, which is an amazing designer of kids clothing. I can spot gymboree clothing from a mile away, as it has a unique feeling to it. A plain yellow shirt to match the bananas and strappy white sandals add brightness and a sense of warmth, perfect for spring. An outfit looks even better when it matches a person's personality and the cheeriness sure is a great fit. Her shirt and skirt are from yard sales and the sandals are from Ross.

Day 161: Daring Demeanor

These shoes are back again so soon, but I figured if they are what's best for the outfit, then they are what should be in the photos. The dress is a fit and flare, which is great to accentuate the waist without needing a belt. A belt could be used, if so desired, to break up the repeating pattern of the dress, but since the dress is short, there isn't enough fabric to really warrant the use of a belt. I got my jewelry at the same yard sale and despite one having pearls and the other rhinestones, they just seem to fit. I easily could have taken a less fancy route with the jewelry, but the juxtaposition was worth the intrigue. I just got the dress and the shoes at Ross.

Day 160: Simple Sailor

In all this time I've been blogging, I couldn't believe I hadn't used this Betsey Johnson necklace in a post yet. My new seaworthy shirt was an apt candidate to use for the occasion. A bright blue and gold belt and ring tie the accessories together into a cohesive ensemble. The white capris and flats are a smart pairing with the shirt as I was going for a sophisticated, simple look. I've used this ring before, but its loveliness makes up for any repetition. My necklace was a gift and the belt, capris, and shirt are from garage sales.

Day 159: Killer Kiss

When has chocolate ever let us down? Other than the whole, it'll make you fat thing, does it have any faults? I'm just a little in love with chocolate. Okay, you caught me, a lot in love. If my necklace wasn't a dead giveaway, I'm unsure of what is. It's pretty amazing though, I must admit. The charm is dainty, sterling silver, and just darling. I hung the charm on one of my thin silver chains and let its simplicity speak for itself. I just got this lovely skirt for an amazingly low price and decided on a more modern, professional look, rather than going crazy with the pattern. A black and silver bracelet and some wedge heels, and I'm on my way. The charm and bracelet and shirt are from yard sales, while the shoes are so much a part of my closet that their origin is unknown.

Day 158: Sinfully Saturated

Intricate, detailed designs give me life. The flowers of her shirt appear to be painted on with extraordinary intent as each petal is perfectly sculpted like a work of art. The most a baby will appreciate is the pretty colors, but I'm the one who has to look at the outfit all day, so I might as well love it. The shorts actually came as a set with the shirt from Ross. The socks rarely get worn because she doesn't have many things that match them and for the longest time, one half of the pair was missing as socks so love to do. It will forever be a mystery where socks disappear to when we need them the most. While doing the laundry both socks go into the wash, and only one makes it out. On a happier note, she looks adorable, so all is well that ends well.

Day 157: Ms. Meow

New day, new look, new shoes. I'm loving these new Tommy Hilfiger sneakers of hers, from Ross. They have a denim texture and go along with a lot of her outfits despite being blue and having yellow laces. This outfit is the perfect match though. Her jeans are new from a thrift store and have a golden color of the exact tone as the laces and the cats on her shirt. And, with a child who is just going to be playing in the dirt all day, the most I can ask for is that she matches, because I know by the end of the day she'll be a wreck. Her shirt was from the same thrift store and I've been waiting for awhile to find the bottoms that would match wholly.

Day 156: Bohemian Belle

This is a new favorite of mine. It's oh so soft like suede, but is made from synthetic materials. It has comfort, cuteness, and wearability. I wouldn't overheat despite the long sleeves, because it's just that light. And these new shoes are drop dead amazing. I actually exchanged some other ones that were similar, because they hurt my feet, but these aren't painful at all and retained all the beauty. I've worn the ring before, but it fits quite well with this new-to-me necklace and the beads on my dress's tassels. The dress and the shoes came from Ross while the ring was a gift and the necklace was from a garage sale.

Day 155: Socially Superb

My little social butterfly is ready to take the world by storm is this outfit. It's casual, fairly simple, and she is a child that can turn heads with her personality alone. Gold, butterflies, and flowers are her ensemble's tying factors and she rocks them quite nicely. Her shoes are new from Ross and are ready for the new transition in sizes, even if I'm not. Children will grow whether we want them to or not. It's not our decision, but we can still mourn the loss of all their adorable clothes. Her shirt is from a yard sale and the gymboree pants are from a thrift store.

Day 154: Sky Serenade

Pinstripes are so awesome. Rare, but awesome. For some crazy reason, clothing manufacturers think it's a good idea to have the majority of stripes on clothing go horizontally. And while there are girls who would appreciate looking a bit bigger, most people have the opposite issue. Vertical lines are a simple way to give the illusion of being taller and more slender. Finding cute clothes that include vertical stripes, or any that have them is quite the task. I found one in this lovely dress though, which I'm pretty excited about. With my suede, brown boots I have a bit of a country air, but that is nothing to complain about. I just got these bell earrings and necklace too. They tinkle just the tiniest bit so that it isn't bothersome, only endearing. I don't usually wear clip-on earrings as every experience with them has been painful, but these were great. They didn't hurt, didn't fall off, and were obviously cute. I got the dress at Ross, the necklace and earrings at a yard sale, the boots were a gift and I found the bracelet in the street years ago.

Day 153: Vogue Vixen

This hat... I cannot begin to express my love of this vintage hat. I was yard saling in one of the ritzier parts of my town and came across a garage sale with amazing prices. The hat had a $1 sticker on it and I was fully prepared to pay that. Heck I would have paid $5 for this thing, but to top off my day, the person running the sale was walking around shouting that everything was half-price. I paid for this faster than you could say vintage. My shirt is from a yard sale from the day before and my shorts have already been featured. But, they have red plaid and of course had to be used again for that. The jewelry set is from the hat day, and though the jewelry is a bit more orange than the red of the shirt, the vintage style absolutely makes up for it. The silver and gold belt (garagesale) goes along with the look of the jewelry so everything ties in wonderfully.

Day 152: Slytherin' Snake

I about screamed when I got this snake bracelet as a gift. Everything about it, from its rhinestone-encrusted head to its tiny fangs are marvelous. The necklace is pretty fantastic too. The stones lining its serpentine body are marcasite which is made from a mineral called pyrite. Pyrite can be located all around the world, but very little of that is able to be made into jewelry, as there is a distinct cutting process used with many specifications for the stone that is to be cut. In other news, I got one of my awesome deals at Ross on this shirt, and these boots had a dang good price at a yard sale. The shorts are also from Ross, but though they were still cheap, they weren't $0.42 cheap. Both the belt and necklace came from garage sales. Altogether, I'd say this outfit is a modern, dangerous look (Thanks to the snakes). By the way, the title is a play on 'slithering' and 'Slytherin'.

Day 151: Lime Lov

First things first, the title is meant to be like that. It's an inside joke in my family that involves this little one. At least the lime is self-explanatory for her beautiful ensemble. She should be walking along the beaches of Hawaii with that island dress and those hibiscus socks. Normally, I don't like plopping random colors into outfits, but considering the flower on these socks match the color and theme of this dress perfectly, I let it slide. Not to mention, this amazing button flower over the paisley pattern is spectacular on her. Her hem is a nice extra layer that adds dimension to the overall look. Her socks are from a yard sale and her dress is from a thrift store designed for children.
Dress:$4.50

Fashion is your friend.

Day 150: Mediterranean Missy

The cool tones in this photo mixed with the bright flowers, yellow paint, and metal, are synonymous with pictures pasted across the Internet of days spent in countries along the Mediterranean e.g. Italy and Greece. It has taken me such a long time to get a photograph of her in this shirt though, because every day that I put her into it, she would stain it with a food or drink or some other thing that only a child could manage to find. Luckily, Shout exists and it works wonders. Her shirt has a pleated bodice, and the embroidery on the end wraps around the entire hem beautifully. Underneath are her stretchy jeans and of course her black boots with tiny rhinestones in the center of each flower. She is such a doll baby, I just can't handle her cuteness. Her shirt is from a thrift store, her jeans a yard sale, and her boots Facebook.
Shirt :$ 3
Jeans :$ 2
Boots:$2
Outfit :$ 7
Great style does not just happen, one must work for it.

Day 149: Bow Bearer

It's all in the fine details in terms of matching today. I could have taken the easy way out and used pink or white for her shirt and socks, but what fun would that be? There are many secondary stripes on her shorts in purple and green that keep to the theme in a subtle way. The ruffles of her shirt bow coincide with the ones lining her shorts's pockets. Matching doesn't need to be blatantly obvious, but there should be a bit of it going on in an outfit. I love that her socks look like purple Mary Janes. It's too bad the ground is so dirty and dangerous to walk on outside while barefoot, or even with socks, because how awesome would it be if we could actually decide if we want to wear shoes or not. Unfortunately, that probably won't be happening soon. Anyways her entire outfit is from various yard sales.

Day 148: Lively Lemon

In contrast to the other outfit I made using these shorts, this one is particularly brighter than the all black and white from before, to say the least. The lovely sunflowers get to be featured again in the rare form of a matching background, as I generally never wear the color yellow. This is literally one of two yellow shirts that I own at the moment. The situation is pretty similar to that of my relationship with orange. This is another Anne Klein shirt and it completes the set of three that I got all at the same time at Ross (the orange Calvin Klein and the pink Anne Klein). Both my shirt and shorts are made by Annes, Ann Taylor and Anne Klein. The shorts remind me of crackle nail polish that is placed on a base coat and breaks apart so that the base coat can be seen. This necklace and earrings set was a gift, but I know it was bought from an arts show. My shoes were bought at a yard sale and that is the end of today's outfit.

Day 147: Wishing for a Watermelon

Let's just talk about this pig for a second. It's made of stone, it's heavy, it's pig-sized and it's awesome. I have it lying in the shade under two trees in the front yard and it's the perfect garden decoration. It may just have to make another appearance at some point. The watermelon dress is nothing to snub one's nose at either. Tiny plaid is a staple of cute summer baby dresses, and pink and green are often placed together as there is a well-coordinated contrast between the two. Polka dots are always welcome in my book, and pigtails are adorable and keep her hair out of her face. Since she's sitting on a pig, is there any other hairstyle I could have done but pigtails?
No, just no.
Anyways, her dress is from a thrift store, her shoes are from Facebook, and her socks are from a yard sale.

Day 146: Denim Daydream

What really sold me on these shorts was the circle- patterned netting in the pockets. Details like that set a nice precedent for the other articles of clothing I'll use in future outfits. The only other time I've used these shorts in my blog, the shirt was white and too long to show off the fabulous lace. Therefore, denim is my choice this time and it just so happens that this is a petite shirt that is particularly short on me, but just the right length and color for these shorts. There is a definite southern tinge to today's ensemble that contrasts greatly with the outfits some of these pieces were from previously i.e. the shorts, hat, and shoes. Who can call themselves stylish though, if they can't create an entirely new look from a few core pieces? I just got this shirt from a yard sale, because I don't own much denim and even if it was not my exact size, I knew I could make it work. The jewelry is also from a yard sale, on top of the hat, and the shorts are from Ross.

Day 145: Popping Pippy

The bambina decided to move in every single photo taken of her, so the only usable one was this where she was squishing her cheeks with her fists. For the moment, this is her last pair of tights to feature, though I'm positive there will be more to come. These shoes make me very aware of any silver in her clothes and I feel inclined to match them with any outfit that has it. Since she only had a solid yellow dress on in terms of color, and the shoes had some pink, her Pippy Longstocking pigtails got rubber bands of the same shades. With that, she really matched from head to to toe. Her dress and tights are from yard sales and her shoes are from Facebook.

Day 144: Healer of Hearts

There is an automatic sense of propriety felt when one wears Ralph Lauren. Even a baby can be sophisticated (but still adordable) in such an outfit, especially given that it is a collared, button-down dress. She hasn't had the chance to wear these heart tights and there is no time like the present. Her zigzag hair came out as electrifying as the lightning it so closely resembles. For tights, Mary Janes are a true classic to wear. Whenever I look at her, she reminds me of a baby doll brought to life. She is the only person in the family at the moment with real bangs and they're fun to utilize in her hairstyles as they give an extra oomph to the look. Her dress came from a yard sale, her tights were on sale at target in a set of two, and her shoes were from Facebook.

Day 143: Sienna Sun

Ah, orange. I've never been a huge fan of the color and this is the only shirt I own that is the color. It was cheap, and Calvin Klein, and I decided to broaden my horizons with a new color palette. The khaki White House Black Market shorts were an obvious pairing in my mind as the ensemble reminds me of a person exploring the African savanna. To pair with the zipper, gold jewelry was a must and for the finishing touch, gold sandals. Sunset was a lovely time of day for these photos since orange is actually very pretty in the setting Sun's rays. The shirt was from Ross, the shorts and jewelry a yard sale, and the sandals were a gift.

Day 142: Hello Hot Pink

This girl is growing so fast and pants galore were bought to replace all the ones she has grown out of. These are one of the glorious pairs and I matched them up with a rhinestone Hello Kitty shirt and some sparkly high tops. This is her favorite shirt, though she won't tell me her reasons and loves to say, "I'm going to wear it on my birthday." Unfortunately, she isn't going to be able to do that if she grows out of it. Such is life, and when it gets too small, I'll probably have to steal it out of her drawer in the night to keep the parting painless. Her shoes were from Facebook, her shirt a yard sale, and her pants a thrift store.

Day 141: Raging Red

For all those crafty people out there, I'm sure you know just how much money can be saved with the 'I can make it myself' attitude. A relative of mine is quite nimble with yarn and made this adorable cat hat. Babies have small heads so barely any yarn needs to be used and skeins of yarn are easily bought at yard sales for barely a quarter. People often sell them by the bag-full. Anyways, a dose of red in life is always welcome and no one could agree more than Elmo, whom her socks are themed after. The little one's shirt is no lie, she truly is a cutie and mermaids are cool, so she's happy. There are a plethora of subtle details in this outfit that add up to a bright, striking look. Her shirt was bought using a special deal online at The Children's Place. Her pants and socks were from yard sales.

Day 140: Secrets of the Savanna

I have a strong dislike of clip-on earrings due to the pain they cause my ears. However, when ones such as these cross my path, even I can make an exception. Their etchings are lovely and the tusks fierce. They themselves have a personality, and it can be seen just by looking deep into their eyes. If a piece of jewelry based off of an animal has such an impact, take a second to imagine staring at the real thing, if you have not already had the pleasure. Their serenity, strength, intelligence, and stubbornness cannot be hidden by a lack of verbal communication. The earrings were a fitting accessory to match the lion zippers that are a staple of the Anne Klein brand and the silver JLo necklace as well. When I saw the jacket I knew it had to be mine and it was fate that it fit me. The jacket, capris, necklace, and earrings were from garage sales, shirt from Ross, and the shoes I don't know.

Day 139: Valentines and Volume

Happy Valentine's Day! This little sweetheart would be the best valentine ever. She was a good sport about the multiple costume changes and endless tweaking with her outfit to find the best way to display each piece. As the tutu would be plenty visible with the sweetheart onesie, I used the long rose shirt to give the illusion of a multi-layer puffy dress. Festive children are fun children and she definitely embodies that in these outfits. Her fairy-like atmosphere is intensified with the poof, the ruffles, the hearts on the tights, and her matching headband. I was impressed at the level of matching between the shoes and the tights, as the tights have flecks of silver scattered across them, and the dark pink helps too. Her sweetheart shirt wouldn't generally be attention grabbing, but since the word on the shirt is basically the only thing in the outfit that isn't pink, it stands out. We see something interesting every day if we look hard enough. Observation is the key. Her tutu, rose shirt, and headband were gifts, the shoes from Facebook, the onesie and socks from Ross, and the tights from a garage sale.

Day 138: Addicting Allure

It was a successful day at garage sales considering I got three out of the five items that make this outfit. The necklace and shirt from one, the earrings from another. The earrings are light and feel like they're made of foam. The shirt was a bit big, but tucking it in solved that problem easily. Each item I got today has a small bit of yellow in it. When the light strikes the necklace, the clear beads have a yellow hue and it can be seen in the photo in the center bead of the top strand. It just so happened that the necklace was the same red as the roses, and that is the magic of yard sales. I often find what I am looking for without even realizing I'm looking for it. The sunflower wreath in the background was a yard sale find as well, and it was only a dollar. I love sunflowers and that made me happy to find a beautiful wreath that incorporated them. Since yellow was my hidden matching detail for my outfit, they were a fitting background. The jeans are from Ross and the flats are from a yard sale.

Day 137: Fancy Friday

The cost of such a stunning outfit, the dress in particular, is unbelievable. It had a reduced price at Ross and I'll save that for the end since it was so cheap. I got the shoes at a thrift store tucked away in the corner of a group of buildings. The silver is lovely with the jewelry set that came from a yard sale. A red dress deserves red jewelry and for it to be the center of attention. Two tall orders, but it seems I managed them. Even with such a bright red color though, this dress has an amazing level of class sewn into its very design. The long flow, subtle sweetheart neckline, and beautiful lace bodice give such elegance. Anyone could feel sophisticated in a gown like this.

Day 136: Bee Bold

Can one ever truly have too many polka dots? I think not. And nothing could be more fitting than a busy outfit for the busy bees. They're an unexpected addition to the dress that isn't noticed until closer inspection. A sunflower with a polka dot center to tie in the tights and shoes makes her outfit loud, fun, and lively, despite being mostly black and white. I don't usually let her wear the flimsy tights, but she is just going to keep growing, and if she outgrows them before wearing them, then there was zero point in owning the tights in the first place. The sneakers are more play-friendly, so it kind of evens out. She was pretty fond of her clothes and that is what matters. The dress was from a thrift store, the shoes Facebook, and the tights came in a set of two on sale at target.

Day 135: Macaron Mayhem

I don't know who thought of macaron leggings, but they look pretty awesome on kids. She loved all the colors and when I told her that a macaron is like a cookie, she went bananas for them. It's easy to match them as long as solid colors are used so the outfit isn't overpowering. Small details like shiny sequins and iridescent flats to go along with the colorful cookies make an amazing outfit. The ruffles give some extra texture and the lace flowers are perfect to pair with those on her shoes. I have had macarons before when I visited NYC and they were an odd thing. I wasn't expecting the outer shell to crack and give way to a jelly-like filling. I thought it was going to be two solid cookies held together like a sandwich with like a cream filling or something along those lines.

And here they are.
It was a surprise and a bit of a letdown because I was expecting more. They really did look amazing. Anyways, her whole outfit, except for the shoes was from yard sales and the shoes were from a post on Facebook.
