Day 125: Darling Doll

In reality, the pinks actually match, just thought I'd say that up front since it was hard to capture the colors. We've got some patten mixing going on here, though nothing too extreme. Polka dots and plaid are about the most basic patterns out there so pairing the two is not a big leap. Her accent flowers, of course, fit right in, in both color and texture. It always helps to set the scene too. I took into consideration the yellow of the shorts and placed her rocking chair in front of these flowers to brighten up the overall ambiance. This is a pretty great play outfit, on top of being cute. It's easy to move around in and the materials are standard, so no worries if there are stains. The shirt and shirts are both from yard sales as well as the socks. The hair band is from a set that she got a long time ago.

Day 124: Baby in Bloom

This girl's hair turned out ridiculously well on camera. She yanked a handful out of the ponytail about ten minutes later, but at least I got the photo. Kids will be kids, and that is good to keep in mind when they decide to smear sauce all over their new clothes or something along those lines. The shirt and skirt may have been made to be together, but I'm still in shock over how beautifully everything matched. I did her hair up in a side ponytail to focus the attention on the pink bow, while keeping the style fresh and clean like a newly bloomed flower in the morning dew. The set came from a thrift store and the socks and bow from yard sales, both sold in lots.
Set:$7
Socks:$. 25
Bow:$. 25

The beauty of a flower cannot compare to that of a baby in a cute outfit.

Day 123: Simply Sleek

Today's ensemble is simple, yet elegant, sleek and classy. My shirt seemed to spill off my frame and cascade into a soft silhouette. There is one teardrop necklace for some intrigue, heels to elongate and structure, and a diamond ring for a subtle accent. The dark-wash skinny jeans keep with the shirt's tone and counter the volume given by the shirt through a gradual slimming from hip to ankle. Keep in mind that in both life and photos, the brightest point attracts the eye first, so a sparkly necklace on a dark background keeps the eyes high and away from problem areas, at least for the first glance. The shirt and jeans are from Ross, the heels a yard sale, and the jewelry were gifts.
Shirt :$. 79
Jeans:$10.32
Heels:$2
Outfit :$ 13.11
Sometimes, the difference between success and failure is the outfit you're wearing.

Day 122: Lovely Lady

Such a LOVEly lady she is. She looks so cozy and cuddly in her sweater and she has the best shoes I've ever seen(made for children anyway). I can't get over those purple flowers on the sandals and how lucky she is that they're not big enough for me, because she would no longer be able to call them her own. There's some nice detail work on her sweater that ties in the flowers of the shoes. Rather than just matching colors, concepts are involved too. If a day is not especially cold, an ensemble like this where one half is ready for the heat and the other the cold, helps to keep a child regulated between the two extremes. The shorts were from a yard sale, the sandals from Facebook, and the sweater from a thrift store.

Shorts:$2
Sandals:$2

Dress for your part.

Day 121: Perfect Princess

All girls are princesses, just like every woman is a queen. With such power, comes the great responsibility of being extra cute. Symmetry is beautiful and this outfit is a lovely example. Bows on each side and tiny crowns on her ballerina socks are the oomph this outfit needs to be top notch. Getting shots of this though, was a challenge. She is is like a squirmy worm that can never sit still,  the definition of most children. Making it fun and upbeat and taking tons of photos is the only hope for photographing kids. Everything down to their toes feels the need to wiggle. It makes me all the more satisfied when I succeed in actually getting a photo that shows the whole outfit and isn't blurry. The dress was from a thrift store and the socks a yard sale.

Day 120: Royally Revitalizing

Who doesn't love a good sale? For 42 cents, how could I ever pass up a dress like this? Ross seriously has some of the best deals. Add some tall boots to spice it up and some handmade jewelry and we've got a recipe for success. I made the necklace when I was much younger using some spare beads and the bracelets and earrings were bought throughout the years from yard sales (the boots were too). You can save money by making you own jewelry to sit you fashion needs. Everything matches nicely and is still classy, yet bold. A bright color catches the eye, but the dress itself is fairly modest, with aspects of intrigue like the sheer sleeves and pleated bodice.
Dress: $. 42

Earrings:$. 25

Outfit:$4.87
Your outfit should have a passionate silence.

Day 119: Ruffly Rump

Back to animals of the safari. I couldn't find the shirt that came with this skirt, so the elephant onesie now has a match apparently. Ruffles are sweet on kids, and they're all the better since volume is never a problem for children. These socks are Boating in the Breeze's pink counterpart. It always makes me smile to see the bottoms of these socks because they play on the classic "handle with care" by changing it to "handle with couture." I went on quite the search for socks that would match and I finally settled on these since they were the same pink as is on the onesie. The onesie and skirt are from a thrift store, while the socks were from a yard sale.
Onesie: $ 3
Skirt:$ 3
Socks:$. 25
Outfit :$ 6.25
Cherish the outfits your child wears for it won't be long before they've outgrown every one.

Day 118: Magical Mermaid

Gymboree is the master brand for kids clothing. This child has a ridiculous amount of clothes from it, but this all stems back to how crazy cute the clothes are. This mermaid on the edge of these jeans is but one example of thousands of their adorable nature. This shirt just so happened to match the colors of the jeans to a tee, which I am eternally grateful for, because otherwise, I would not have been able to feature them.  It helps to pay close attention to an outfit's details to be able to add even more. That includes things like watching out for say a braided belt and then also braiding your child's hair. These jeans were bought at a thrift store, the shirt and socks from garage sales, and the shoes from Facebook.

Socks :$. 25
Outfit :$ 7.25
Attitude makes the outfit.

Day 117: Boating in the Breeze

Nautical-themed clothing is one of my favorite types for adults and children alike. Either can pull it off and it has a classy feel for both. Some fluorescent sailboats and perfection in matching are always good things to incorporate into a look. The silver of the socks' stripes with the shoes, and pink of the shoes with that of the boats, and the navy of the sails to tie it all together, full circle, back at the socks. Speaking of socks, these are Juicy Couture. Imagine my surprise when I found out they make baby socks. Her little collar is just precious and don't even get me started on the the adorableness of button down shirts on kids. For kids they're cute, for adults, they feel quite adult like. It all depends on the wearer. The shirt and pants are from a thrift store, the shoes Facebook, and the socks a yard sale.
Shirt:$3

Shoes :$ 2
Socks :$. 25
Outfit :$ 7.25
Children are a reflection of the environment they live in.

Day 116: Cameo in Color

One does not see an iridescent cameo every day. I actually got it just as a charm from a yard sale, buyt interchanging chains is easy and economical. The gold of the earrings was a match for that of the necklace and the hearts are a unifying feature for the two. Generally, I don't wear these shoes unless I'm in need of something secure and comfortable or I'm going for a street style look. Let's talk about this jacket though. It amazes me every time I see it. Every intricate black stitch on white is extraordinary. It has a similar feeling to black piping on a white wedding cake. A pink undershirt was chosen to soften the look up a bit and because any color is good when rainbow is involved. The jacket, undershirt, and jewelry are from garage sales, the shoes are a mystery, and the jeans are from Ross.
Jeans:$10.39

Undershirt:$. 25

Dress to impress yourself.

Day 115: Tutu Tiny

Tutus are too too cute for little kids. This one is particularly awesome with its polka dots and brilliant red. The shirt wasn't originally with this but it turned out to be a great match. It has actually been featured before in Curiously Corduroy. Rather than an undershirt, it is now center stage and each detail is important, down to the red thread lining the sleeves and collar. A sparkly red bow to cover the rubber band in her hair and some red and white socks and this girl is ready to take on the world, or at least the house. The shirt, skirt, and socks are from yard sales, the shoes from Facebook, and the bow from TJ Maxx (came in a set).
Shirt onesie: $.50
Skirt:$2
Shoes :$ 2
Socks:$. 25
Bow:$. 25
Outfit :$ 5
Every little girl should have an everyday tutu.

Day 114: Dramatic Details

I love that something can be so deceivingly ordinary. What appears to be a plain black dress hides an intricate network of thread in the back that can either be displayed or covered, depending on the hairstyle. To bring out the purple thread, I wore a hat and lipstick of the same color. The necklace was an added bonus. It has a marbled look and since the bracelet always reminded me of pebbles, they seemed to fit well together, especially with the silver wire. Oftentimes, the tiniest details are the ones that matter most, and that is precisely why I focus so intently on them in my outfits. The sunglasses weren't really meant to be a part of the outfit, therefore, I'll disregard them for the total. Everything except the lipstick (that's from Ross) is from yard sales and I've mentioned that I don't know about the shoes.
Hat: $ 1
Dress:$. 50
Lipstick: $ 1 (part of a set)
Necklace:$1
Bracelet :$. 25
Outfit :$ 3.75
Add some excitement to your life with a healthy dose of lipstick.

Day 113: Fantastically Floral

A new little munchkin has made an appearance and her outfit does not disappoint. Children have to rely on the adults in their lives to dress them well every day, therefore,  I take that responsibility seriously and make these kids as well-matched and cutely/beautifully dressed as is possible. The green sweater to complement the leaves, and magenta shoes and flower-lined tights for the florals of the dress complete the entire look. Anybody and everybody should put their best foot (or in this case shoe) forward at all times. The dress and tights are originally from gymboree, but were bought at a yard sale. The sweater is from a local thrift store and the shoes from Facebook.
Sweater:$5.99

Roses are red, while violets are blue, but you can wear whatever you want to.

Day 112: Cool Cat

🎶Everybody wants to be a cat.🎵 Babies get everything apparently. Who else could pull off a cat suit with no repercussions in the least? In fact, it will actually make them even more popular. A cold day deserves a warm outfit and this was certainly a cozy choice. The wee bit of pink in the socks to match the kitty on the suit and the gray animal print on the socks and inner part of the hood make this perfectly feline. With some well-placed stickers, she even gets to see what she would look like with whiskers like her favorite fuzzy companions. To top it all off, she sat down cool as a cat for the picture without any direction as to what needed to be done. This amazing outfit was bought at Sam's Club and the socks were from a yard sale.
Cat suit: $ 7.99
Socks:$. 25
Outfit :$ 8.24
Warm and cozy kids are happy kids.

Day 111: Toddler in Tulips

Baby smiles can cleanse even the most tired of souls. Add to that an adorable outfit that matches ridiculously well, and I've got a recipe for a refreshing and rejuvenated person. Every detail and color was meant to be together and a child is the most suitable for such an ensemble. Watching children grow up is both heart-wrenching and satisfying. Their tiny toes, wobbly legs, and baby talk are replaced with a walking, talking fireball. However, it's also a sign that you're doing your job right when they fit into clothes that once would have swallowed them whole and leave behind outfit after outfit. That's why it's so important to dress them well, because their bodies will never be that size again to wear that adordable romper or those little socks ever again. This romper was a gift that was originally huge on her, but she is finally growing into it and venturing into a new territory of bigger sizes. The sunglasses and socks were both from yard sales.
Sunglasses:$.25
Socks:$.25
Outfit :$. 50
Make your way into a confident attitude every day.

Day 110: Dior and Diamonds

Christian Dior, Baby Phat, gold, and diamonds, there are not many more decadent days than that for a casual outfit. The Dior shirt was originally my mom's, but considering I learned my economical mannerisms from her, it's no surprise that she got the shirt at a bargain on ebay. The Baby Phat jeans were from a yard sale and just now are able to fit me, so that's a win for the day. I've actually worn these heels before in Pretty in Pink, but it's been awhile since they've made an appearance. I thought the shirt deserved some high quality jewelry; therefore,  I featured my nice gold and diamond jewelry that I've gotten as gifts over the years. This shirt always sparks my memories of Sex and the City, though I went in a different direction with my clothes than Carrie in the second movie. Even if someone has worn it before, does not mean you can't make a piece of clothing your own.

Day 109: Wild 'n Wonderful

Well, it's day three of big-cat-themed clothing for the little one. It just goes to show how different the atmosphere can be depending on how the clothing is designed. All three of these past outfits incorporated cheetah print in some way, and yet, the end result of their usage is monumentally opposite. This is a bold, out-there version compared to the other two. The dress is made by gymboree, but it was bought at a thrift store for children that is amazing to walk through. It's separated on each side by boy's and girl's clothing and then by size. The prices are cheap and all the clothing is adorable (often name-brand to boot). The socks were bought in a lot at a yard sale, so individually, the price of each pair is really a bargain.
Dress:$5
Socks:$. 25
Outfit :$ 5.25
Clothes you're unsure of? Carpe diem and wear them.

Day 108: Sunset Safari

I love to see that a lot of effort was put into making a piece of clothing. The tiny embroidery work and well-thought-out design is so appealing to the eye. Her shoes match the colors of her dress, but in a more faded tone, which allows for the dress to keep all the attention. Many different elements are brought together, from the neutral-colored cheetah print, to the bright elephant, to the geometric embroidery on the collar. This dress is from a local thrift store and the sandals are from a person on Facebook.

Day 107: Little Lioness

She is such a roaring cutie. From afar, the outfit seems simple enough, a beige dress and some ivory tights, but upon closer inspection all the details come into play. The tiny lions printed in all the white squares of the dress, the thread lion on the striped pocket, the cheetah on each ankle with a trail of paw prints leading away from it, are just to name a few. Even the bow tie on the cheetah coincides with the bows on her shoes. It's an outfit that brings together two of the big cats in particularly subtle ways. There's nothing flashy about it, but its cuteness speaks volumes. Her leggings are from a yard sale, her dress a thrift store and her shoes, Facebook. Black Mary Janes are a staple of any little girl's wardrobe and are often the go-to when it comes to what will match her outfit.

Have pride in your appearance to display your pride in yourself.

Day 106: Shamelessly Sherlocked

As a Sherlock Holmes fan, there's no way I could resist getting some inspiration for one of my outfits from the famous detective. This one is more closely linked to the show Sherlock. I've got everything from the popped collar, to a ladies' version of his coat, to a scarf tied in the same manner as Holmes's, and finally, the closest hat I have to a deer stalker. It at least has the front lip, and considering I'm recreating the look with my tastes and making a more stylish version, I'm plenty happy with this cap. It's an enchanting moment when one can look at a photo and see one of their favorite characters in his/herself. I just bought this coat (and another coat) at Ross that I have been eyeing for months and finally purchased because they got marked down. I've worn these jeans before (check out Fake Flowers are Forever,) but this time I rolled them up a bit to make a gap between the hem of the jeans and top of the boots. The boots were from a yard sale, as was the scarf, and the hat was a gift.
Coat:$5.60
Jeans:$8.99
Boots:$3
Scarf:$1
Outfit :$ 18.59
Any interest can be expressed through clothing.

Day 105: Fish are Friends

Themed outfits are so fun to create and dress children in. The nautical shirt came with the leggings, but as I was choosing a pair of socks that would match color-wise, these undersea socks popped up and were a perfect color match to boot. One can never go wrong with a pair of shiny silver and pink Hello Kitty shoes, especially when I think of the predator, prey relationship between the two creatures adorning her clothing. It is amazingly hard to capture a child for a nice photo of what they are wearing, so the main advice I can give is to let them go where they will and take a lot of candid photos. Good luck to those who take on the challenge. As I've mentioned, the shoes were bought from someone on Facebook, the socks at a yard sale in bulk, and the shirt/leggings are from a thrift store.

Day 104: Braids and Butterflies

This outfit is centered around the fact that I wore my hair in pigtail braids today.  I wanted something cutesy to go along with the look and opted for a simple aéropostale dress that has a little ruffle at the bodice, a lace vest for an extra layer, and butterfly jewelry that seemed to fit the bill of girliness. My keds happened to match all the colors from navy, to white, to light blue so that's how they got the spot. It's nice to add a youthful aspect to adult life once in awhile. If the aspects are small enough, then avoiding feeling childish is a lot easier for someone who doesn't want to take it too far. The dress is from the actual aéropostale store (on sale and I had a coupon), the vest a yard sale, the earrings are from Claire's,  my necklace was a gift, and the shoes are a mystery.

Day 103: Curiously Corduroy

Her cuteness level is at 100! A turtleneck, thigh high boots, and a tiny turquoise ring all made for babies are just too adorable. I love that children's items can be just as meticulously detailed as adult's. Seeing all these details in miniature form is a sight to behold. Gymboree makes some amazing kid's clothes, like this corduroy dress with all its little buttons, ribbons, and hearts on the front. The dress is from a local thrift store and everything else is from yard sales, but together she is one of the best dressed babies in town.

Baby boots are made for walking, and that's just what they'll do... right into the mud.

Day 102: Ravishing Rainbow

Colors galore! It's like a rainbow exploded on me, but dressing cheerfully is good for the soul. The bright colors remind me of the Latin culture and that is why I'm wearing that necklace with this sweater. The necklace and earrings were a gift from my cousin from her trip to Venezuela. They are handmade pieces that speak quite loudly. The thing I love most about wearing items with rainbow colors is that I can literally wear any color and it will match. Most people are happy to see a rainbow, so I see nothing wrong with sharing some of that with the rainbow. The shoes are from Sam's Club and the sweater and pants from yard sales.

Day 101: Child's Charm

Oh my gosh, it's Osh Kosh! They make some of the most adorable clothes for kids and that is who made this dress. A floral red dress that contrasts against some super cute black boots is just striking. These boots are awesome with their little flowers along the sides and the rhinestones in the center of each flower. Add a diaper cover and this toddler is ready to roll, run, and ride. Finally, to top it all off, some high pigtails. The local thrift store has tons of beautiful clothes and that is where this dress came from. The boots were bought from a post on Facebook.

Day 💯: Whimsy in the Windy Wood

The light, airy quality of this dress makes me feel like an ethereal fairy flitting through the trees. I didn't want to sacrifice any of that feeling by cinching my waist with a belt. Normally, it's quite important to me to wear waist - defining clothing since it's one of my favorite qualities, but I'm willing to break my own rules for the sake of today's outfit. I stuck to a simple necklace that blends well and a pair of earrings that could add sparkle without being too opulent. The strappy sandals seemed to fit with the theme I had in mind and matched the green of the dress to boot. I got this dress at the same yard sale as a few other items (the checkered shorts, pinstripe shorts, the shirts worn with them, etc.). All other items are also from garage sales, actually.

Day 99: Shade of Shamrock

A cold day deserves a warm, cozy sweater. I had the urge to wear these TH capris though, that have a washed-out blue tone and distressed marks. What was I to do to keep my ankles warm? Ankle boots of course. These jeans are just the right length where a hint of skin is still visible so that the gaps between the boots and hems are not awkward. The green and gold of the necklace and bracelet link them and together they match my sweater. It's a cute, Vera Bradley bracelet that I got for Christmas alongside my awesome boots. Everything else is from yard sales.

Day 98: Fluorescent Fuchsia

Neon pink is not usually my go-to color, but I was given this shirt by one of my neighbors when they were vacationing and eventually it grew on me. The bedazzled sea life on the front is a realistic touch and an interesting texture. What better to coordinate with a fluorescent beach shirt than tons of palm tree jewelry. With palm trees in the background, I've got a tropical paradise right at my fingertips. My dad gave me this necklace as a souvenir from one of his trips, and the shorts were bought at Ross. The sandals are one of my unknown pieces (a gift) and the earrings and bracelet are from yard sales.

Day 97: Mariposas Maravillosas

Roses galore. I never get tired of seeing how many ways a rose can be styled into clothing. It is a bit saddening though, that most other flowers are overlooked for the more common rose design. As for this butterfly necklace, the dark metals and rhinestones seemed fitting for this ring and that is the story behind their pairing. Overall, the whole outfit is pretty simple and casual. Sometimes, it's just the tiny details that matter, even if no one else ever notices them. Everything is from garage sales, except the pants which came from Ross.

Day 96: Gems and Geometry

Ah, vibrancy. Such a beautiful thing to add to one's life. Maybe a couple pieces of lovely jewelry, or perhaps something a bit less obvious like colorful flowers to brighten up your yard. Small new aspects like this can help kick start 2016 with the right attitude using colors to subliminally cheer up the mind. Start small and work your way up from rings and necklaces to the actual clothes you wear. I'm wearing a nice tribal-patterned, black and white dress in the photo which keeps things simple enough to wear even the craziest of jewelry. This could become more brilliant using colorful tights, jacket, hat, shoes, anything pretty much. It is all up to the wearer and that is the beauty of fashion. As I've said, I don't know the price of these shoes and these jewelry pieces were gifts, so honestly, I only know that the dress came from a yard sale.

Day 95: Rosey Reality

Happy New Year! With everyone making New Year's resolutions, it seems like a great time to take a look at the wardrobe and see if it suits the person you want to be in the upcoming year. That may mean getting rid of the old stuff or bringing in some new pieces. I adore my wardrobe, but I'm also always adding things, because it's not possible for it to ever be 'complete.' This necklace is new, it was a gift, but it's new. The entire outfit is based around this necklace. It's as easy as holding it in my hand and looking at each piece in my closet to see if it would match. Well, this shirt was the winner and the earrings came into play because, even though the necklace is rose gold, the rhinestone flower looks like silver. It also helps that the flowers have the same shape. I've mentioned before that the boots were a gift and that these jeans are from Ross. The earrings are from a yard sale and the shirt is from Ross.
